An awesome explanation of how to utilize synthesizers and vocals. I really had no clue about it was incorporated. Thanks for your excellent analysis and including Led Zeppelin. Can never have enough Jimmy Page!
When I was a Zeppelin-loving teenager, it would have blown my mind to learn how important they were to electronic music due to this track and the Levee break
Remarkable how broad and deep Herbie's influence has been over the decades. I saw him just a few months ago. He's 85, and he was excellent: energetic, ebullient, and genial. (I also have to mention that he had an absolutely killer drummer named Jaylen Petinaud.) Thanks for another great podcast, Ethan. I really enjoyed seeing those Rockit videos with the robot dancing pants legs, some for the first time, and Herbie looking so cool. He looked like a shy librarian on those early Blue Note records.
