When I did my ABRSM grade 6 piano last summer, the sight singing part of the exam was the most traumatic (even more so than screwing a b flat minor scale). And I’ve never heard of takadimi either - I’m sure it’s very useful but somehow I’ve managed to play music for the fifty years or so without it!
I meet a lot of traumatized classical music people, it's epidemic. Takadimi is a really great system, I'm sure I would have benefitted from it as a beginner, but I definitely missed the window.
