Maybe I’m misunderstanding. Why would you say Dear Prudence melody starts on a hypermetrical downbeat? Seems to me it’s starting with a pick up. But it’s cool how “Prudence” is delayed a bit rather than dropping it right on the downbeat.
I was unclear - it's beginning-accented not because it starts right on the hyperdownbeat, but because its first strong accent is there (or right nearby.) So the "Pru" in "Dear Prudence" is falling on the hyperdownbeat (except that Lennon is always rushing or dragging it).
