I’m not a trained musician but somekind of an old DJ who love playing with existing music to create mixes, montage and mashups.
I’m 66 so I went through the Prog Rock era, Disco and New Wave and today I love experimenting with Technoly i.e. BPM and Key matching, AI tracks seperation and some AI voice cover.
As I wrote above I’m a fan of Prog Rock and two of my hereos were Greg Lake and John Wetton who have never played or sang together. I love them both as lead signers.
I’m trying to find a way to have them sign the same song as a duo or together but it is not an easy undertaking… cause they don’t sign in the same key and the songs they have both performed are not easy to synch on the same beat and same key.
I have tried with versions of "Only time will tell" from Asia’s first album and from "Asia in Asia" when Greg replaced John but results are so so.
I have used Universal Voice Remover V5 and Madhup 2.5 (from Mixed in key) but was unable to have them sign in the same key, (C for Wetton and B for Lake, on thst song according to Neural Mix Pro)
My objective is to keep their natural voice as much as possible.
So my question is… how would you do this?
Choose another song? Convert their vocals in the same key then use the music in the same Key?
Any tricks, software reference or suggestions will be appreciated?
Any time you transpose the pitch of a human voice, the result will sound a little weird and artificial. Humans are very sensitive to the harmonic content of other human voices, so anything that is even slightly "off" sets off our alarm bells. Probably what you would need to do is sing the song yourself and then use timbre transfer to replace your vocals with Lake and Wetton's. In order to do that, you would need to train the software on a big collection of isolated Lake and Wetton's vocals. It won't be quick or easy, but it can be done.
Hi Etahn, just to keep you posted on my ''Lake and Wetton'' project, I have moved my attempts in a more ''natural'' than ''artificial'' direction.
I'm such a bad singer that I could not sing the song and then use timbre transfer to replace my vocals with Lake and Wetton's.
Instead, I have use two songs taken from live performances and extracted the vocals and instrumentals and stitched the two vocal tracks to the instrumental baseline track. I have used Ultimate Vocal Remover and Mix In Key Mashup for stiching phrases and Beat Matching.
Not perfect but an interesting demonstration of what the two of them could have done together on the same stage...
As Weston once said ''But there have been times when people have approached me and Greg to do a project together, and because we pretty much perform the same function, it would have been difficult to find something that we could do together. Too much of a good thing! I’m sure I would have enjoyed working with Greg. In a nutshell he was a lovely bloke and had great vision about his music. A really good guy.''

Thanks for the quick response.
I will searh a bit on what "use timbre transfer " mean and how to accomplish this with the material that I have.
Thanks a lot for the reply!
